Immer noch betrügerische Scam-​Mails an Models im Umlauf

Ich hat­te schon vor vier Jahren an die­ser und die­ser Stelle vor Scam-​Mails gewarnt, wel­che Models und Fotografen betrü­gen wollen.

Da gera­de wie­der die nächs­te Staffel von „Germany’s Next Topmodel“ anläuft und Models immer noch berich­ten, dass sie sehr frag­wür­di­ge Jobangebote bekom­men, die ein­fach zu gut klin­gen, um wahr zu sein, möch­te ich wie­der kurz ein Beispiel vor­stel­len, was ich hier im Forum der Model-​Kartei gefun­den habe.

Die Masche des Tricks funk­tio­niert im Prinzip immer gleich, nur die Details ändern sich. Der Ablauf sieht meist so aus:

  1. Ein angeb­li­cher Fotograf, fast immer aus dem Ausland, fragt ein Hobby-​Model, wel­ches sich bei der Model-​Kartei, Stylished, Facebook oder einer ande­ren Plattform ange­mel­det hat, kurz per Privatnachricht o.ä., ob es Interesse an einem Shooting habe.
  2. Wenn das Model Interesse bekun­det und nach Details fragt, kommt eine sehr aus­führ­li­che Mail, in denen vie­le tol­le Sachen und ein hohes Honorar ver­spro­chen wer­den. Diese lau­tet z.B.

„Hello [Name des Models],
Thank for your inte­rest and Nice rea­ding from you,here is more infor­ma­ti­on about the assign­ment is a £1600 pay Fashion job (Assignment) for you, My cli­ent wants to update her Catalog with her new year release Fashion out­fits and to host one of the 2013 model event with her new fashion from Italy this assign­ment is to encou­ra­ge the upco­ming models in the indus­try she is affi­lia­ted with the Academy Art, you don’t have to be worried about your expe­ri­ence or pre­sent look becau­se we have spe­cia­list sty­list and make artist who will bring the real beau­ty out of you, I’m a pro­fes­sio­nal photographer/​Manager with 7years expe­ri­en­ced :). Job Location
The shoo­ting will hold at a ren­ted pho­to­graph­ers stu­dio in your loca­ti­on, so you don’t have to worry about tra­ve­ling ‚the name and address of the stu­dio will be for­ward­ed to you befo­re the date of the shoo­ting, all make up will be taken care of in the stu­dio. You can come along with any body of your choice on the day of the shoo­ting, your mum, dad, fri­end, body-​guard any­bo­dy you wish to come with just for you to feel more comfortable.

Job details
You have 12 dif­fe­rent Fashion out­fits to cover,which would be pro­vi­ded by our cli­ent on the day of the shooting.

3. Es ist jetzt egal, was das Model ant­wor­tet. WENN es ant­wor­tet, bekommt es auf jeden Fall die Zusage für den „Job“, wel­che unge­fähr so aussieht:

„Hello [Name des Models],

I’m glad to inform you have read back from my cli­ent and she was plea­sed by working to work with you for the cata­log shoot and assu­red me that part pay­ment will be mai­led to you, until you receive

Wie funk­tio­niert der Betrug?

Ganz ein­fach: Der Täter schickt wirk­lich vor­ab einen Scheck, sogar mit einer höhe­ren Summe als in der Email ver­ein­bart. Kurz dar­auf kommt eine Nachricht, dass man ver­se­hent­lich zuviel Geld geschickt habe und das Model die Differenz auf ein Konto (oder via Moneybookers oder Western Union o.ä.) über­wei­sen sol­le. Das Model macht das brav, weil es ja den gut­be­zahl­ten Modeljob haben will. Kurz dar­auf teilt die Bank dem Model mit, dass der ers­te Schick nicht gedeckt sei und das Model des­halb kein Geld bekom­me. Das über­wie­se­ne Geld ist aber weg!

Was soll­te das Model stut­zig machen?

Ein angeb­lich Fotograf will für ein Shooting in den USA ein deut­sches Model buchen und in bri­ti­schen Pfund? Das klingt schon mal komisch. Und selt­sam, dass der angeb­lich eng­li­sche Muttersprachler so vie­le Schreibfehler in sei­nen Nachrichten hat. Außerdem sind £1.600 ca. 1.850 Euro, das ist eine Tagesgage, wel­che selbst Topmodels nei­disch wer­den lie­ße. Bei sol­chen Summen wer­den Models auch nicht mehr nur „nach Fotos“ gebucht, son­dern es fin­den immer Castings statt. Generell kann der Betrüger in sei­ner Mail so vie­le, tol­le, schö­ne Sachen (Flug, Unterkunft, Verpflegung umsonst, Modeltraining etc.) ver­spre­chen wie er will, weil es sowie­so nur um den fal­schen Scheck geht und danach kein Shooting statt­fin­den wird.

Die im Text erwähn­ten rea­len Firmen und Designer habe ich übri­gens kon­tak­tiert und die­se bestä­tig­ten mir, dass sie mit die­sen Mails nichts zu tun haben.

Welche Varianten des Betrugs gibt es?

Da die Art des Auftrags voll­kom­men egal ist und das Ziel des Betrügers nur ist, dem Empfänger einen glaub­haf­ten Grund zu geben, ihm einen unge­deck­ten Scheck zu schi­cken und um eine Rücküberweisung des zuviel gezahl­ten Geldes zu bit­ten, kann er viel erzäh­len. Fotografen wer­den mit fürst­li­chen bezahl­ten Bikini-​Shootings auf einer Karibik-​Insel gelockt, Visagisten wird eine Zusammenarbeit mit Top-​Models ver­spro­chen, Tänzern wird erzählt, dass sie einen gro­ßen Auftritt in einem renom­mier­ten Haus bekä­men und so weiter.

Wie soll mit sol­chen Mails umge­gan­gen werden?

Löschen und ver­ges­sen. Ganz einfach.

Wieder Spam-​Mails an Models – Achtung, Betrug!

Unkraut ver­geht nicht. Das Gleiche gilt für Spam. Auch wenn mal Botnetze abge­schal­tet wer­den, häu­fen sich danach die Viren per Email, um neue Rechner zu „kapern“, um von die­sen aus neue Spam-​Mails zu ver­schi­cken. Einige die­ser Mails sind an Models und Fotografen gerich­tet. Vor einem hal­ben Jahr hat­te ich schon aus­führ­lich einen Betrugsversuch per Mail an Models vor­ge­stellt, dies­mal wie­der eine Mail, die ger­ne an Models gesen­det wird, um an ihr Geld zu kommen:

My cli­ent wants to update their Catalog with the new year release Fashion out­fits and i’m inte­res­ted in you for the shoo­ting. That is the main reason why I cont­ac­ted you. Find all details for the job below.

Der Trick ist immer der Gleiche. Es geht nicht um das Shooting. Darum kön­nen sie ver­spre­chen, was sie wol­len, was gut klingt, was lockt. Es geht um die Anzahlung. Die angeb­li­che Anzahlung wird Dir als Scheck geschickt, jedoch ist die Summer höher als ursprüng­lich ver­spro­chen. Du wirst kon­tak­tiert mit der Bitte, die „ver­se­hent­lich“ zuviel über­wie­se­ne Differenz auf ein ande­res Konto zu buchen. Weil Du den Auftrag haben möch­test, machst Du das. Dann kon­tak­tiert Dich Deine Bank, dass der Scheck nicht gedeckt ist und Du bist Dein Geld los.

Die glei­che Masche wird auch bei Fotografen pro­biert, indem sie für auf­wän­di­ge Shootings gebucht wer­den sol­len. Der Fotograf Joseph Pobereskin beschreibt eine sol­che Mail und die Abzocke aus­führ­lich in die­sem Blogbeitrag.

Deshalb hier noch mal die Warnzeichen, dass ein Model- oder Foto-​Auftrag Betrug ist:

  • Du soll­test einen Scheck bekom­men. Falls Du wirk­lich mal einen bekom­men soll­test, fra­ge Deine Bank, dass sie war­ten sol­len, bis das Geld tat­säch­lich ange­kom­men ist, bevor sie es Dir aus­zah­len. Das dau­ert in der Regel ein bis drei Wochen. Wird bei den betref­fen­den Schecks jedoch nie passieren.
  • Niemand zahlt Dir im Voraus viel Geld für einen Job. Falls Du einen seriö­sen Auftrag bekommst, wird Dir unter Umständen der Flug und das Hotel bezahlt, aber war­um soll­te Dir der Kunde erst das Geld geben und dann hof­fen, dass Du erscheinst?
  • Kein Kunde wird Dir Tausende von Euro hin­ter­her wer­fen, wenn Du nicht bei einer gro­ßen Model-​Agentur bist, von einer renom­mier­ten Fotografen-​Repräsentanz ver­tre­ten wirst oder schon Aufträge für den Kunden gemacht hast. Es gibt genug Models in der Nähe des angeb­li­chen Shootings, die nicht ein­ge­flo­gen wer­den müssten.
  • Niemand zahlt Dir zuviel Anzahlung und ver­langt sie im Voraus wie­der zurück. Stattdessen wür­de das Geld sonst mit Deinem rest­li­chen Honorar ver­rech­net werden.
  • Wenn Du im Voraus etwas bezah­len sollst, um den Auftrag zu bekom­men, ist es sehr wahr­schein­lich Betrug.
  • Große Kunden beherr­schen meist die Grundregeln von Rechtschreibung, Grammatik und Satzbau. Die Leute, die davon leben, betrü­ge­ri­sche Mails zu schrei­ben, oft nicht. Auch wenn Englisch nicht Deine Muttersprache ist, ver­su­che mal, die Anzahl der Fehler in obi­ger Mail herauszufinden.
  • Keine seriö­sen Kontaktdaten: Wenn als Kontaktadressen von Yahoo- oder GMX-​Adressen und als Telefonnummern nur Handy-​Nummern ange­ge­ben sind, ist eben­falls Vorsicht geboten.
